Jasmone, in its cis form, is an essential part of the fragrance of jasmine flowers and has been used in this form by the Romans for perfume production.

Chemical Properties

Cis- jasmonic belongs to the group of jasmonates and ketones. It is one of the two isomeric forms of the Jasmons, wherein present in natural jasmine extract only cis -jasmone in the chemical production, however, the trans -jasmone. This difference can be artificially produced jasmone be detected. Pure cis- jasmonic is a white odorless solid, a mixture of cis -and trans -jasmone other hand, is a yellowish liquid with a fruity spicy odor that smells sweet and floral in dilution.
