History

Lichtenberg was first mentioned in 1383 when the owner of the village, Nicol of Lußdorff sold the place to the city of Zittau. The evidence indicating that the place is older, is the fact that already in 1339 a Herman of Lichtenbergk was alderman in Zittau.

Since this purchase Lichtenberg was one of the Zittau Council villages. Even after the loss of their possessions as a result of Pönfalls of 1547, the city acquired already in 1555 back to the village.

1666 was the first school in 1768 and commissioned the Lichtenberger the Zittau city architect Andreas Hünigen with the construction of a church. Reason to do so gave dispute with the parish Reichenau to participation in their 1759 planned renovation of the organ. After 1770, however, the money collected lost much of their value, so that the idea of a church could not be realized. 1793 Lichtenberger about the new Reichenauer pastor were so upset that the project was revived, but due to internal differences ultimately failed.

When in 1793 the school house burned down, it was rebuilt. Already in 1820 took place at the same location, a new building, which was no longer sufficient to the end of the 19th century for the growing number of students. Therefore, the church erected in 1891 elsewhere a new school.

At this time, Lichtenberg was a popular summer resort and benefited by the westerly thriving spa town of Bad Oppelsdorf. In addition to the Gickelsberg also the Bald Mountain was (Polish Lysa Gora, also Graniczny Wierch, tschech. Lysý vrch, 641 m ) is a popular tourist destination. In the old forester's house at the Oppel Straße an inn was built.

Because of its location settled in Lichtenberg no industry, but that also meant that the population since the beginning of the 20th century was significantly reversed because had to secure their purchase in a foreign land many residents.

1847 lived in the town, which belonged to Amtshauptmannschaft Zittau in Saxony, 765 people. 1910, there were 731 and in 1943 only 589

After the end of World War II lichen mountain belonged to the east of the Lusatian Neisse villages in Saxony, which were in Polish and all the inhabitants were expelled between 1945 /46.

The village in the south west of Poland was forgotten, the spa business in neighboring Opolno Zdrój was not taken up and destroyed a few kilometers north of the big mining Turow the landscape. Since there is no coal at Jasna Góra, the place is not threatened by mining and one of the few villages in Bogatynia, which is preserved in its original form.
