Jason Bacashihua

Jason Bacashihua ( born September 20, 1982 in Dearborn Heights, Michigan) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender who stands in the 2012/13 season with the Straubing Tigers in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga under contract.

Career

Jason Bacashihua began his career as a hockey player in the youth team Chicago Freeze, for which he was active from 1999 to 2001 in the North American Hockey League. He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 in the first round than a total of 26 players from the Dallas Stars, for whom he never played, however. Instead, the goalkeeper ran in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League in the 2001/02 season for the Plymouth Whalers. There he was able to convince at first and was team of the Canadian Hockey League, the umbrella organization of Canada's top junior leagues elected to the All- Rookie. He was also with 2:34 goals against per game, the rookie with the lowest Gegentorschnitt the OHL, for which he received the FW " Dinty " Moore Trophy. Since his team had the lowest Gegentorschnitt the OHL, he was awarded the Dave Pinkney Trophy. Towards the end of the 2001/02 season he was also in his first senior game for the Utah Grizzlies professional in the American Hockey League on the ice. For the team, he also played in the next three years.

On 25 June 2004, the Dallas Stars, who still held his transfer rights, Bacashihua transferred in exchange for Shawn Belle to the St. Louis Blues. In his first year at his new club he played during the lockout in the National Hockey League in the season 2004/ 05 exclusively for St. Louis ' AHL farm team Worcester IceCats. In the following two seasons, he was a regular for the St. Louis Blues in the NHL on, but was unable to repeat his performance in the AHL and at junior level there and pointed in 38 games, of which he won only seven, a Gegentorschnitt of 3:19 on. In addition, he was parallel for the new AHL farm team of the Blues, the Peoria Rivermen, on the ice. After he started the 2007/08 season with the Rivermen, he moved on 8 November 2007 to the Colorado Avalanche, for their AHL farm team he competed in the following two seasons. On 31 July 2009 Bacashihua signed a contract as a free agent with the Hershey Bears of the AHL. With his new team, he won in the 2009/10 season at first Calder Cup, but had as a third goalie Michal Neuvirth and Braden Holtby behind with 22 inserts in the regular season not enough games completed on to engrave his name on the trophy itself to leave. For the 2010/11 season the former national goalkeeper returned to the Colorado Avalanche, but was used again only in their AHL farm team. On July 19, 2011 Bacashihua received a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers, but spent the entire season at the Farm Team Adirondack Phantoms. On 22 July 2012, the goalkeeper moved to the Straubing Tigers of the DEL, he received a one year contract. After a good season by the American, in which he has been named, among others, by the fans for " Player of the Season ", gave the Tigers announced that the cooperation with Bacashihua is extended by one year.

Internationally

For the U.S. Bacashihua participated exclusively at the U20 World Junior Championship in 2002 at junior level. In the senior level, he stood in his country's squad at the World Championships in 2006 and 2007, where he came to a total of four inserts.
