Jatiyo Smriti Soudho

The Jatiyo Sriti Shoudho ( Bengali: জাতীয় স্মৃতি সৌধ Jatiya smrti saudha; German: National martyrs monument) is a monument in Bangladesh. It reminds of the Bangladeshi soldiers who lost their lives in the Bangladesh war for independence of the country. It is the symbol of the valor and the sacrifice of Bangladeshi soldiers. The monument is located in Sabhar, about 35 km northwest of the capital Dhaka. It was designed in 1978 by architect Syed Mainul Hossain.

Structure

The monument is composed of 7 isosceles triangular pyramid shaped structures, of which the middle one is the highest. The highest point of the monument is about 46 meters. It is an artificial lake, and several mass graves in front of the monument.
