Djawa (Georgian ჯავა, Russian Ossetian Дзау / dsau ) is a city in the north of South Ossetia.

Djawa is since 1961 an urban-type settlement and is the center of the municipality Djawa. After the administrative center of Tskhinvali, it is the second largest city of South Ossetia. It is located 22 kilometers north of the station Tskhinvali, 1,100 meters above sea level in the valley of the Great Liakhvi.

The spa with an average temperature of 13 ° C in January, 18 ° C in July and 750 mm of precipitation per year has a source with carbonate hydro carbonate and chlornatriumhaltigem bottled water.

Djawa was almost completely destroyed by an earthquake on 29 April 1991.
