JavaStation

The Java Station is a Network Computer (NC), which was produced between 1996 and 2000 by Sun Microsystems.

The hardware is based on the design of the Sun SPARCstation, a very successful computer architecture of UNIX workstations from the 80s of the 20th century. NC typically missing computer components such as floppy disks, hard disks and CD -ROM drives. There are primarily used standard PC components: connectors for keyboard and mouse (PS / 2) connector for monitor with VGA, use of SIMM / DIMM RAM.

The operating system 's own JavaOS was supplied by Sun, which provides essentially the virtual machine (VM ) for Sun's Java. Then sitting up can run Java programs, for example, the HotJava browser. It can, however, also use Linux on the Java Station.
