Je m'appelle Barbra

Je m'appelle Barbra is the title of an album by Barbra Streisand.

History

Je m'appelle Barbra is the eighth studio album by Barbra Streisand. For the first time, she worked for this production with the French composer Michel Legrand together. About a decade later, Legrand has composed the music for Streisand's movie Yentl. Legrand wrote three songs for this album and worked as an arranger and conductor for the recording of the album. Only with What Now My Love comes the arrangement of Ray Ellis. On the album there are only French compositions, and with few exceptions, all the songs are sung by Streisand in French. The audience of Streisand, however, was irritated by the fact, and so this production was the biggest failure in the career of Streisand. Only in 2002, 36 years after its release, the album received a gold record.
