Jean Ballesdens

Jean Ballesdens (* 1595 in Paris, † 1675 ) was a French jurist and bibliophile.

Ballesdens studied at the University in his hometown of both rights and then worked as a lawyer at the Parlement de Paris. Later, as Secretary for the Chancellor of France, Pierre Séguier. As an esthete and bibliophile man Ballesdens contributed over the years together a very large and valuable private library, which was hardly second to none in their time.

1648 elected him to the French Academy as the successor of the late Claude de Malleville ( armchair 8). He himself followed in 1675 the philosopher Geraud de Cordemoy on this place after.

With about 80 years died Jean Ballesdens 1675 in Paris and found his final resting place.
