Jean Baptiste Loeillet of Ghent

Jean -Baptiste Loeillet de Gant ( born July 6, 1688 in Ghent, † 1720 in Lyon) was a composer and flautist of the Baroque.

Life

The Loeillets were a well known family of musicians. The parents of Jean -Baptiste Loeillet were Pieter Loeillet and his first wife, Marte ( born Nortier ). He was baptized on 26 July 1688 in Ghent, and spent the greater part of his life in the service of François Paul de Neufville de Villeroy, Archbishop of Lyon. He lived and worked in the Netherlands.
