Jean de La Rochetaillée

Jean de Rochetaillée (* in the 14th century, † March 24, 1437 in Bologna) was Latin Titularpatriarch of Constantinople Opel, Bishop of Geneva and Paris, Archbishop of Rouen and administrator of the Archdiocese of Besançon.

Life

Whose real name was Jean de Font, he came from a humble background in the area of Lyon. Jean was 1392 Priest of the Cathedral of Lyon and earned the title of Doctor iuris utriusque. He worked at the papal chancery and was 1412 by John XXIII. appointed Latin Patriarch of Constantinople Opel. Martin V appointed him in 1418 to the Administrator of Geneva. He resisted the efforts of Count Amadeus VIII of Savoy, to gain supremacy over Geneva. 1422 Jean exchanged the bishopric with the Paris Bishop Jean Courtecuisse, 1423 he became archbishop of Rouen, 1426 Cardinal, 1429, he was Administrator of the Archdiocese of Besançon. He took part in the Council of Basel in 1432 and in 1434 vice-chancellor of the Church.
