Jean Jacques Kickx

Jean Jacques Kickx ( born January 27, 1842 in Ghent, † March 27, 1887 ) was a Flemish botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " JJKickx ".

Life and work

Jean Jacques Kickx was the son of Jean Kickx and Hélène -Louise Kesteloot. He studied natural sciences at the University of Ghent, in 1863 put the doctor exam and then worked with Julius Sachs at the University of Bonn. After the death of his father he returned to the University of Ghent, was there in 1867 and since 1871 associate professor of botany. From 1885 to 1887, he was rector of the University of Ghent.

He finished and published the work cryptogamique Flore des Flandres, which had begun his father.
