Jean Kickx (1775–1831)

Jean Kickx ( born March 9, 1775 in Brussels, † March 27, 1831 same place ) was a Flemish botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " J.Kickx ".

Life and work

He was professor of botany, pharmacy and mineralogy at the Medical University in Brussels and author of the work Flora bruxellensis, which was published in 1812 in Brussels. His son was also called Jean Kickx, as he was a botanist and inherited him in several offices.

The plant genus of Tännelkräuter ( Kickxia ) is named after him.
