Jean-Louis Bruguès

Jean -Louis Bruguès OP ( born November 11, 1943 in Bagneres -de- Bigorre, Hautes -Pyrenees, France ) is a Curia, Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Jean -Louis Bruguès submitted on September 29, 1969 from the profession and received on 22 June 1975, the ordination. He was from 1976 to 1997 professor of moral theology at the Catholic Institute in Toulouse and from 1997 to 2000 at the University of Fribourg. He was a member of the International Theological Commission in Rome from 1986 to 2004.

On 20 March 2000 he was appointed by Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of Angers. He received his episcopal consecration Pierre Cardinal Eyt, Archbishop of Bordeaux; Consecrators were his predecessor Bishop Jean Orchampt and the Archbishop of Rennes Saint- François Macary. He was Chairman of the Commission of the Catholic Church for the Doctrine of the Faith in France in 2002.

Pope Benedict XVI. appointed him on 10 November 2007 on the Curia and Archbishop Secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education. In 2012 he became Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Vatican archivist and librarian, succeeding Cardinal Raffaele Farina.
