Jean-Marie Ehouzou

Jean -Marie Ehouzou (* September 1950 ) is a diplomat and politician from Benin.

Biography

After entering the diplomatic service, he rose in 1993 as Deputy Director for Africa and the Middle East as well as for communities in the State Department and was then between 1996 and 2000 Director for the coordination of foreign resources in the Ministry of Planning, Economic restructuring and the promotion of employment. Then he returned as Director for International Organizations back to the State Department, before being appointed from 2003 to 2006 as ambassador to Ethiopia. As such, he was not only at the same time accredited to Kenya, Sudan and Djibouti, but also as Permanent Representative to the African Union and the UN Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa.

On 29 September 2006 he was appointed Boni Yayi as Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York from the new president.

As part of a cabinet reshuffle took place on 22 October 2008 he was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, Francophonie and Beninese abroad in the cabinet of President Yayi. In July 2009, he attended a conference of the African Union in part to form a joint Exektutivbehörde the organization in Surt (Libya) and gave this as the sole representative of the participating states after 15 hours of negotiations in a press conference.
