Jean Nicod Prize
The Jean Nicod Prize (French Prix Jean Nicod ) is awarded for outstanding achievements in the field of philosophy of mind and cognitive science since 1993, mostly annually in Paris. The prize was awarded with the aim to strengthen the exchange between philosophy and cognitive science in France. Meanwhile, the Nicod Prize is one of the most important international awards in the described research.
The prize is awarded by the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS ) and the École normale supérieure support (ENS ) and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales ( EHESS ). It is named after the French philosopher Jean Nicod ( 1893-1924 ). The selection committee is composed by the famous French scientists in the fields of philosophy of mind and cognitive science, ie approximately from Jean- Pierre Changeux and Pierre Jacob.
The price is usually associated with a lecture or of the award winners and will be published as a monograph in the Jean Nicod Lectures series of the MIT Press.
