Jean-Paul Delahaye

Jean -Paul Delahaye ( born June 29, 1952 in Saint- Mandé, Seine ) is a French computer scientist and mathematician.

Delahaye studied at the University of Paris-Sud in Orsay with the completion of Agrégation in 1976. Afterwards he was at the University of Lille I, PhD ( Doctorat de troisième cycle in 1979, Doctorat d' État 1982). Since 1983 he conducts research at the laboratory for computer science in Lille and he is since 1988 professor of computer science at the University of Lille I.

It deals with complexity theory (especially Kolmogorov complexity and algorithmic information theory ), algorithmic game theory (including the Prisoner's Dilemma ) and the concept of chance (eg Benfordsches Act). Previously, he also dealt with transformation of consequences and logic programming for Artificial Intelligence.

Since 1991, he has a regular column in the popular science magazine Pour la Science (heading Logique et calcul ). He has written many popular books on mathematics and computer science.
