Jean-Paul Le Chanois

Jean -Paul Le Chanois ( born October 25, 1909 Jean -Paul Etienne Dreyfus in Paris, † July 8, 1985 in Passy, Haute Savoie) was a French screenwriter and film director.

Life

Le Chanois spent several semesters studying law, philosophy and psychiatry and engaged next in an avant-garde theater group. In 1930 he came to the film, and became an assistant among others, the directors Anatole Litvak, Alexander Korda, Maurice Tourneur and Max Ophüls. Directed by Le Chanois shortly before the outbreak of the Second World War in documentaries and newsreel reports. In 1939 he was able to compose a feature film as a director, during the time of the German occupation was the born Jew Dreyfus into the ground and was active in the Resistance. During this time, Dreyfus worked, code name Le Chanois, also for the production company of the German occupying forces Continental film ( The Devil's Hand ).
