Jean-Pierre Solié

Jean -Pierre Solie (also Soulier, Solier or Sollie; * 1755 in Nîmes; † August 6, 1812 in Paris) was a French cellist, opera singer and composer.

Solie began as a tenor, but then switched to the baritone. Mostly he sang at the Opéra -Comique in Paris. He was also a prolific composer, the one-act primarily Opéra comique wrote.

Life and work

As the son of a cellist, he learned this instrument and to play the guitar, he also worked as a choir boy. As an adult, he appeared in operas by Grétry and Monsigny, then he worked for example in the operas of his colleague Mehul.

As a composer of an opera, he made ​​his first appearance in 1783 and continued the career successfully started.
