Jeffrey Bewkes

Jeffrey L. Bewkes ( born May 25, 1952 in Paterson, New Jersey) is an American manager. He is President and Chief Operating Officer of Time Warner. Since 1 January 2008 he is the Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of the company.

Life

She grew up in Connecticut and New Jersey Bewkes 1974 he graduated from Yale University with a BS and received in 1977 by Stanford Graduate School of Business, a Master of Business Administration. After his studies he worked as a clerk ( account officer ) for Citibank in New York before moving to pay-TV channels Home Box Office (HBO ) 1979. When HBO first he was responsible for the marketing of the transmitter Take Two, a channel of little interest aroused among the public. The following year he was sales director of the station Cinemax which was very successful. 1983 promoted him to management as of the Vice President for corporate and financial planning. The following year he went to Time Inc. to coordinate the activities of the parent company with HBO. After years at Time, he returned as Vice President of Finance at HBO. In September 1991, Jeffrey Bewkes was elected President and Chief Operating Officer of HBO in May 1995 and rose to CEO. At the time of his appointment as CEO of the market stagnated in this area, Bewkes was able to make the company one of the most profitable in the industry. In 2002, he became Chairman of the Entertainment and Networks division. In January 2006, he was President and Chief Operating Officer of Time Warner. In July of the same year he became a member of the board of trustees of Yale University. January 2007 he was elected to the Supervisory Board. In January 2008, he was followed by Richard D. Parsons as CEO of the company.
