Jeffrey Hoogervorst
Jeffrey Hoogervorst ( born October 23, 1984 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch football player. He plays the position of center-back and is currently the Spanish Real Avilés under contract.
Club career
As youth players from Ajax Amsterdam, he went through all the youth teams of the club to the amateur team. As no contract was offered to him after the 2001/ 02 season, but instead Johnny Heitinga transported into the professional squad, he tried his luck abroad.
In 2002, he signed his first professional contract with the then former Segunda División team Sporting de Gijón, which immediately gave him one year to the third division club Mariono de Luanco. The obligation of Hoogervorst meant for Luanco a milestone in the club's history, as he was the first Legionnaire in the history of the club. After 27 season with 4 inserts Torerfolgen, brought him to Gijon 2003/04 season in their senior squad back. After two seasons with a total of only 10 short inserts, he managed in the season 2005/ 06 the breakthrough in the Asturiern. His older brother, Marc Hoogervorst, is also a professional footballer on the position of the goalkeeper. After run youth academy of Ajax Amsterdam, he was most recently with the Dutch second division side FC Omniworld under contract.
National
During his time at Ajax Amsterdam Hoogervorst was called several times in the Dutch U -16 and U-18 selection. After his move to Spain, he was no longer considered for a Dutch national team.
