Jehiel ben Solomon Heilprin

Jehiel ben Solomon (s) Heilprin (* 1660, † 1746 in Minsk) was a rabbi, yeshiva head, Talmudist and historian of Judaism.

His ( much criticized ) Seder ha - Dorot major work, 3 parts, first printed in Karlsruhe, 1769, revised, improved edition of Warsaw from 1878 to 1882, is a Hebrew wrote history and Biobibliographie of Judaism from the creation of the world up to 1696.

  • Seder ha - Dorot Part 1: Seder olam jemot, from the creation of the world by the year 1696, references the most important historical events and gives brief biographies of important men and scholars in Judaism with an indication of their works
  • Part 2: Seder Tanna'im wa'amora'im, alphabetical listing of all the Tannaim and Amora, giving all the relevant references in the Talmud as well as the inclusion of all known events, legends, etc., for other contemporary or later sources
  • Part 3: Seder mechabberim weseder Sfarim, alphabetical list of the authors of Jewish books after the completion of the Talmud with an indication of their works, an alphabetical by Title Bibliography of Hebrew literature after the completion of the Talmud (based on the work Sifte jeschenim of Sabbatai bass ) and Haggahot haschass, corrections of incorrect mentioned in the Talmud scholar name
