Jelena Dokic

Jelena Dokić ( born April 12, 1983 in Osijek, then Yugoslavia) is an Australian tennis player.

Career

Jelena Dokić playing on the WTA Tour since 1998, emigrated in 1994 with her family to Australia. Between 1994 and 2002 she went to for Australia, 1999, she won with Mark Philippoussis the Hopman Cup. My greatest sporting achievement was their semi-finals at Wimbledon in 2000. Awarded the highest ranking in the WTA world rankings Dokić reached on 19 August 2002 with Rank 4 In May 2001, she was on the tour " Player of the Month".

After a scandal during the Australian Open in 2001 when Dokić and her father the organizers manipulation at the draw accused, the family returned to Serbia and Dokić played back for their old home. The said scandal was not the last battle, where Jelena's father Damir was involved. Conflicts with tournament organizers, coaches and officials of the WTA, but also private problems slowed the sporting success of his daughter.

Dokić broke up in November 2005 by her father and went again to Australia. There, she apologized for the earlier incidents and insisted that she wanted to play under the Australian flag again. Still in 2005, she contested the qualification at a small tournament at Melbourne Park to get a wildcard for the Australian Open, which she also managed.

In the WTA tournament in Auckland in January 2006, she lost her opening match against Julia Schruff, the planned appearance in Canberra she had to cancel due to injury. After her off in the first round against Virginie Razzano in Melbourne she said from several tournaments. In 2006 she even appeared in three other tournaments: In April, she lost in the qualifying of the Challenger tournament in Biarritz with 5:7, 5:7 against the little-known Italian Eleonora Punzo. In another Challenger tournament in Italy it reached as qualifier round two, in which they defeated the Romanian Mădălina Gojnea. At Wimbledon, she went to a wild card, but failed in the very first round of qualifying at the world rankings now also widely slipped off Alexandra Stevenson.

2008 Dokić won the International Hessian Championships. On July 20, she defeated in the final Michelle Gerards from the Netherlands 6-0, 6-0. Also in the doped also with U.S. $ 25,000 ITF tournament in May in Florence and Caserta, she won the title. They also moved from May to July twice in a semi-final.

At the Australian Open 2009 Dokić reached ( again with a wildcard at the start) by Tamira Paszek wins over Anna Chakvetadze, Caroline Wozniacki and Alissa Kleibanowa surprisingly the quarterfinals. There they had to admit defeat of the set at position 3 Dinara Safina with 4:6, 6:4 and 4:6.

On March 6, 2011 Dokić won after almost nine years again a WTA tournament. In the final, she defeated Lucie from Kuala Lumpur Šafářová that in the third set could not use their favor two match points in the tiebreak of the second set and a 3-1 lead, 2:6, 7:69, 6:4.

After Dokić the Family Circle Cup 2012 in the first round had to give up hurt, they played 2012 and 2013, no official tournament. In May 2013, it trained according to an interview for a comeback in smaller tournaments. However, they stepped in to a tournament. After a wrist surgery, she declared in October 2013, they train under the direction of Todd Woodbridge in order to apply for a wildcard at the Australian Open 2014. In December she went to at the corresponding excretion, but she lost in the very first round match against Jarmila Gajdošová. For the doubles event of the Australian Open, she actually received a wildcard, did not come along with Storm Sanders, however, beyond the first round.
