Jendrassik maneuver

The Jendrassik handle ( en. Jendrassik 's maneuver ) is a neurologist after the Hungarian Ernő Jendrassik ( 1858-1921 ) called examination maneuvers.

By muscular tension of the arms, the leg reflexes facilitated ( paved ) and thus easier to be testable. The patient crosses his hands and pulls them apart vigorously; the arms bent in front of the torso.

Analogously, one can bite the patient vigorously on the teeth when reflexes of the arms to be checked.

The facilitation comes through convergence (summation ) concluded by two or more subliminal stimuli that lead to a suprathreshold depolarization in motor neurons.
