Jenner (mountain)

Jenner is a 1,874 meter high mountain, which is part of the Göllstock in the Berchtesgaden Alps. He is one of the few mountains in the region, which were opened up by a cable car and thus get rain visit.

The Jenner summit offers a good view of the watzmann, which is the third highest mountain in Germany, and the 1200 m deeper Koenigssee. The built 1952 to 1953 Jennerbahn, a cable car that transports skiers and hikers in 20 minutes of Schoenau am Koenigssee about the middle station ( 1,185 m) to 1,800 m high mountain station just below the summit. From there, a 20-minute walk to the summit with a good panorama.

More roads lead to about 30 minutes to Schneibsteinhaus or in about 40 minutes to the steel house. Also the High Board, the High Goll or Schneibstein can be reached from Jenner from. There are also some simple ways by the Berchtesgaden National Park. In 1953, developed on behalf of the administration union tourism region Berchtesgaden Koenigssee ski resort at Jenner is the most alpine of the region and is challenging. Since 2006 will be held on Jenner annually instead of Jennerstier of the German Ski Mountaineering Cup for ski mountaineers.

Near the summit is one of the six transmitters that serve as pseudolites in the Galileo Test and Development Environment (GATE ) of the European satellite navigation system Galileo for the simulation of navigation satellites.
