Jenő Jandó

Jenő Jandó [ jɛnø ː jɒndo ː ] ( born February 1, 1952 in Pécs, Hungary) is a Hungarian pianist and Professor of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. He was named by the British newspaper the Daily Telegraph once The busiest man on the keyboard.

Life

His first piano lessons got Jenő Jandó with 7 years of his mother. Later, he studied piano at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music under Katalin Nemes and Pál Kadosa. He earned a degree in 1974 and won a number of Hungarian and international awards, such as the Cziffra and Ciani Piano Competition or the 3rd place in the Hungarian Beethoven Competition in 1970.

His professional career started when he won the 1st prize of the Hungarian Piano Competition in 1974 and the first prize at the international piano competition in Sydney in 1977 in the category of chamber music. It convinces by its delicate and unpretentious game and is not fixed to particular composers. Among his best interpretations include the Piano Concerto No. 2 by Rachmaninoff and his recordings of Schumann.

Jenő Jandó can show a very extensive repertoire today. He has recorded the complete piano sonatas of Ludwig van Beethoven, all piano concertos and piano composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, both parts of the Well -Tempered Clavier by Johann Sebastian Bach, the complete piano sonatas of Joseph Haydn, all piano concertos and numerous solo piano works of Bartók, as well as much of the piano sonatas of Franz Schubert.
