Jens Holmboe (botanist)

Jens Holmboe ( born May 5, 1880 in Tvedestrand, Aust -Agder, † September 25, 1943 in Oslo) was a Norwegian botanist. His botanical author abbreviation is " Holmboe "; earlier was also the abbreviation " Holmb. " in use.

Holmboe came from a family of scientists and politicians; at the Museum Bergen he was first curator, before he became a professor in 1914 at the university. Eleven years later he moved to the University of Oslo, where he was responsible for the Botanical Garden.

Holmboe was a science journal out natures (1906 to 1925); in addition, he published frequently, including the main work, the six-volume Våre ville planter along with Torstein mountain camp from 1937 to 1940, which appeared in new editions from 1950 to 1955. Early as 1902 he had the H.K.H. Receive gold medal of the Crown Prince.
