Jens Melzig

Jens Melzig ( born September 28, 1965 in Cottbus ) is a former German football player.

Sports career

Jens Melzig began his career as a professional in the late eighties at Energie Cottbus. In the last season of the GDR Oberliga Melzig missed the Lusatians qualifying for the 2nd Bundesliga, which is why he moved to Bundesliga side Dynamo Dresden in 1991.

In Dresden Melzig could establish immediately as starting player, in 1993 the Manndecker Bayer 04 Leverkusen was committed. Best position with Bayer was the third place in the season 1993 / 94th In 1995 Melzig moved to the second division for Chemnitz FC, ​​with whom he had, however, relegated to the Regionalliga.

In 1997 Melzig to his old club Energie Cottbus back, who played at that time in the Regionalliga. With Cottbus he reached surprisingly the final of the DFB Cup (0-2 against VfB Stuttgart) and promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. From 1998 to 2000 Melzig also played second-rate at Tennis Borussia Berlin.

Currently Melzig is a football country coach active in the FLB and plays in the SG Sielow ( Altliga UE35 ).
