Jeremy Northam

Jeremy Philip Northam ( born December 1, 1961 in Cambridge, England ) is a British actor.

Short Biography

Jeremy Northam came in 1961 as a child of two Cambridge professors at the world. His father is considered established Ibsen translator. 1972 the family moved to Bristol. Northam studied English language and literature at London University, where he graduated. His first acting experience was gained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, and he later had great success on the London stage. His breakthrough came when he stepped in for his fellow actor Daniel Day Lewis as Hamlet. He had first television roles in Suspicion ( 1987) and Journey's End (1988). He attracted attention for the first time in a film adaptation of Emily Brontë 's classic, Wuthering Heights ( Wuthering Heights ), where he starred alongside Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes.

1990 Northam was honored as an outstanding newcomer with the Laurence Olivier Award. The mid-1990s he started making films in Los Angeles. His Hollywood debut was the role of Jack Devlin in the network with Sandra Bullock. From 2007 he played the character of Sir Thomas More in the award winning series The Tudors. Northam continues to play in the theater, from February to July 2012, he starred as Richard Greatham in the London stage version of the play Hay Fever by Noel Coward.
