Jermaine Terrell Dye ( born January 28, 1974 in Vacaville, California ) is a professional American baseball player in Major League Baseball. He plays as a right fielder for the Chicago White Sox. Previously, Dye has played for the Atlanta Braves (1996 ), the Kansas City Royals (1997-2001 ) and the Oakland Athletics ( 2001-04 ). On 31 March 2011 he announced his resignation.

Dye is married and lives with his wife Trisha and three children in Arizona.

Career

Dye attended Cosumnes River College in Sacramento (California ) and was pulled in the 17th round of the 1993 Amateur Draft. He attended Will C. Wood High School in Vacaville. Dyes career in Major League began in 1996 with the Atlanta Braves. There, already in his first at bat, he had a homerun. He had a large share in winning the championship of the National League and participated with the Braves in 1996 at the World Series.

On 27 March 1997 Dye was traded to the Kansas City Royals. In the 1999 season, Dye reach 26 home runs in 158 games for the Royals.
