Jeroen Speak

Jeroen Speak ( * 1969 ) is a New Zealand composer.

Life

Speak studied until 1993 at the Victoria University of Wellington. In 1994 he was composer in residence at the Nelson School of Music. He earned a Ph.D. in 2003 Michael Finnissy at the University of Sussex in the UK. Furthermore, among his teachers, Harrison Birtwistle, John Young and Jonathan Harvey. Using a grant from the British Council, he worked in Taiwan and 2005 in Shanghai 2004. His works were, inter alia, Festival performed at the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, ISCM World Music Days and Gaudemus. He worked with musicians such as Corrado Canonici, Arne De Force, Richard Haynes and Nicolas Hodges.
