Jérôme Rakotomalala

Jérôme Louis Cardinals Rakotomalala ( born July 15, 1914 in Sainte -Marie, Madagascar, † November 1, 1975 in Antananarivo ) was Archbishop of Antananarivo.

Life

Jérôme Rakotomalala received his theological and philosophical education in the regional seminar of Ambotaraka in Madagascar. He received on 31 July 1943, the sacrament of Holy Orders, and then worked as a parish pastor in Antananarivo. From 1946 to 1960 he taught at various seminars and schools, and served as Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Antananarivo management.

On April 1, 1960, he was named by Pope John XXIII. Archbishop of Antananarivo and donated him on May 8 of the same year the episcopal ordination. Jérôme Rakotomalala participated in the years 1962-1965 at the Second Vatican Council and was on 28 April 1969 by Pope Paul VI. taken as a cardinal priest with the titular church of Santa Maria Consolatrice al Tiburtino in the College of Cardinals. He died on 1 November 1975 in Antananarivo and was buried in the local cathedral.
