Jerzy Jeszke
Jerzy Jeszke ( born November 2 in Bytów, Poland) is a Polish actor and singer. Particularly successful he is as a musical actor.
Life and work
He began his four-year course of acting and singing at the "Studio" Danuta Baduszkowa in 1976 and graduated in 1980 with honors.
At age 17, he started his career in Poland ( 1976-1987 - Musical Theatre in Gdynia, State Operetta Theatre Roma in Warsaw, musical theater in Chorzow and State Opera in Wroclaw ). From 1987 to 1992 he had his first engagement outside of Poland, first as choral and solo singers, from 1990 as a solo artist at the Music Theater in Oberhausen, which is why he moved to Germany. In 1992 he received a diploma for opera singers ( Chamber Opera, Vienna). In 1993 he was a guest singer at the Opera Spanga, the Opera Royal de Wallonie, the Obihiro Opera and the Vienna Chamber Opera.
After a final casting in 1994 in London, organized by Sir Cameron Mackintosh, Jerzy Jeszke was selected as the " boss in the ring" for the German premiere of Miss Saigon in Stuttgart, first as an understudy, then as First cast for this role.
In 1996 he took first cast in the role of " Jean Valjean " in the premiere of Les Misérables at the Music Theatre in Duisburg and received the Tony Award (1996, Best Musical ). As part of the international gala for the tenth anniversary of the musical Les Misérables, which was held at London's Royal Albert Hall in 1995, he represented Germany in this role, as well as at the closing ceremony of the European Football Championship in 1996 at Wembley Stadium in London. Here he appeared as one of 17 " Jean Valjean " performers in the world. In 1997, he played as a guest star to " Jean Valjean " in the Polish production of Sir Cameron Mackintosh at the Musical Theatre in Gdynia. From March 1998 on, could be seen as a guest star in the title role in Phantom of the Opera. After graduating from the casting on Broadway in New York City and Hamburg successful, he took over the role in the first cast at the Theater Neue Flora in Hamburg in January 1999.
At the beginning of 2002, played Jerzy Jeszke as a guest star on the role of "bosses in the Ring" in Miss Saigon at the Roma Musical Theatre in Warsaw, Poland. In October 2002, he worked at the premiere of the musical production with The Castle in Nuremberg, in which he appeared in the role of " King Duncan ". In March 2003, he played as first cast the role of " Jean Valjean " in the new production of Les Misérables at the Anhalt Theatre in Dessau. Jerzy Jeszke decided to collect 2006 new artistic experiences without comfort and glamor. As a street artist, he has performed in many European cities for the poor and homeless. In 2007 he moved his artistic interests towards Iberia. In Mallorca, he presented many times his live solo program "Broadway Live Show " for the José Carreras Foundation. As of October 2007, he was seen again as " Chagall " on the stage of the theater of the West in Berlin. At that time, he played the role of "Jesus" in Jesus Christ Superstar at the Musical Comedy in Leipzig. He played the " Chagall " in the first cast in Dance of the Vampires from November 2008 to January 2010 at the Metronome Theater in Oberhausen and February to September 2010 at the Palladium Theater in Stuttgart. In addition, he appeared - as in the 2007/2008 season - in the role of "King" in the musical The King and I at the Anhalt Theatre in Dessau.
As of September 2010, he played the role of "King Arthur " in the Polish premiere of Monty Python's Broadway musical hit Spamalot at the Musical Theatre in Gdynia as a guest star. In November 2011, played in the TVN television series Warsaw Pact as a "wolf", and in February 2012 in the TVP television series M jak miłość. As of May 2012, he played the role of " Beadle Bamford / Mr Fogg " in Broadway hit musical Sweeney Todd at the Music Theatre in Chorzow as a special guest.
As of July 2012, he played the role of " Chagall " in the revival of the cult musical Dance of the Vampires as first cast (produced by Stage Entertainment ), directed by Roman Polanski at the Theater of the West in Berlin. In October 2012 at the international gala for the 15th anniversary of the musical " The Fearless Vampire Killers " he had the role of " Chagall " at the Stage Theatre of the West in Berlin.
Jerzy Jeszke is the founder of Jerzy Jeszke Art Foundation. This nonprofit organization helps and supports young and talented artists.

The repertoire of Jerzy Jeszke ranges from chanson to musicals and opera to rock and pop music. Engagements and concerts in Germany, Poland, Italy, the Netherlands, England, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Mexico, Egypt, Czech Republic, Russia, Tunisia and Japan were stops in his career.
Since his debut as a 17 year old to date Jerzy Jeszke occurred in more than 60 premieres in six languages , in the opera, as well as in the modern musical. He played among other things the "David" in the musical Seesaw by Cy Coleman, "Judas" in Jesus Christ Superstar by Andrew Lloyd Webber, "Prince Sou - Chong " in The Land of Smiles by Franz Lehár, " Caramello " in A Night in Venice by Johann Strauss, " Pinkerton " in Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini, " Jontek " Halka by Stanislaw Moniuszko and in the " Hoffmann" in tales of Hoffmann by Jacques Offenbach.
In addition to performances on TV and on the radio he sang at numerous national and international galas ( Royal Albert Hall, Wembley Stadium, London; Congress Hall, Warsaw, Castel Gandolfo, Rome, Schloss Bellevue, Berlin; José Carreras Foundation, Mallorca). He has been exclusively committed to Pope John Paul II, Roman Herzog, Michael Gorbachev, Lech Walesa and U.S. Senator Zbigniew Brzezinski.
The music Jerzy Jeszke 's can be found on the CD of the German production of Les Misérables as " Jean Valjean " and on his own CDs Who I am? and Tell me why? with the greatest hits of the musical, the pop- classical and classical music. A new solo CD with rock Opera Music is for the year 2011 in preparation.
