Jesper Bodilsen

Jesper Bodilsen ( born January 5, 1970 in Aarhus ) is a Danish double bass player and composer of modern jazz.

Bodilsen learned from the age of eight trumpet. At 14, he moved to bass guitar. From 1991 to 1997 he studied diploma in Aarhus; he is a student of Niels -Henning Ørsted Pedersen. In 1995 he became a member of the Dream Quartet by Erling Kroner. Since the late 1990s, he regularly works with Ed Thigpen, with whom he recorded several albums and guest musicians like Duke Jordan, Benny Golson, Lee Konitz and Phil Woods accompanied. In addition, he worked among others with trumpeter Enrico Rava and took up with Kasper Villaume, Stefano Bollani and Katrine Madsen. He led his own trio, the Italian pianist Stefano Bollani next to the drummer Morten Lund belonged. In 2002 he founded a music production, for which he produced more than 15 albums. With George Colligan, he played a one duo album. In 2004 he was awarded a Django d'Or as "Contemporary Star of Jazz".
