Jesús España

Jesús España ( born August 21, 1978 in Valdemoro ) is a Spanish long-distance runner.

España starts mainly in the 3000 -meter run and the 5000 -meter run. His first international medal he won over 3000 meters at the European Indoor Championships in Vienna in 2002, when he won behind his two compatriots Alberto García and Antonio David Jiménez bronze. With 7:48,08 min, it was placed on a par with the British John Mayock. At the European Athletics Championships in Munich, he finished about 5000 m eleventh place. At the World Indoor Championships 2003 in Birmingham, he was in 7:42,70 min fourth.

The Ibero-American Championships in 2004 Jesús España won over 5000 meters.

At the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg, the Spanish runners were favored on all medium and long distances. Ultimately was Jesús España in 5000 -meter run, the only European champion in the running area, when he was fighting in a typical track separation on the home stretch with Briton Mo Farah and finish with 13:44,70 min nine hundredths of a second had lead.

In 2007 he won at the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham Bronze 3000 m and was at the World Athletics Championships in Osaka seventh over 5000 m. At the Olympic Games in Beijing, he ran across a 5000 m in 14th place.

In 2009, he took in the European Indoor Championships in Turin 3000 and again Bronze was at the World Championships in Berlin tenth. At the 2010 European Championships in Barcelona, he won silver in the 5000m. In 2011 he was at the European Indoor Championships in Paris in fifth over 5000 meters, won the Great Ireland Run and was at the World Championships in Daegu Twelfth over 5000 m.

In 2012, he was sixth at the Great Ireland Run.

Previously he was eight times Spanish champion over 5,000 m (2003, 2005-2011 ). In the hall he was five times national champion over 3,000 m ( 2003, 2007, 2009-2011).

Jesús España is 1.73 m and weighs 56 kg. He is coached by Dionisio Alonso and starts for the Amigos Valdemoro.
