Jesús, Peru

Jesús is the capital of the Peruvian Province Lauricocha in the region of Huanuco.

Location

The village lies on the River Lauricocha at an altitude of 3,486 meters. It can be reached either from the Pan-American Highway from the north of Lima La Union, Huanuco Pampa, Rondos and Jivia or via the National Road from La Oroya, Huánuco, Huancapayac, Yarumayo and Margo. The Kordillerenkette Huayhuash lie some 50 km to the southwest.

Infrastructure

In the city there is a hotel and an agency of the Banco de la Nación.

Jésus is the starting point to the Marañón and thus to Lauricocha - lake.
