Jesús Tordesillas

Jesús Tordesillas ( born January 29, 1893 in Madrid, † March 24, 1973 ) was a Spanish actor.

Life

After graduation Tordesillas began with an apprenticeship at a bank, turned, encouraged by the brothers Joaquín Álvarez Quintero and Serafín, but then to acting. In various ensembles he first played mainly in works of its discoverer. In the cinema Tordesillas debuted in 1921 in Flor de España, but his breakthrough came only in the 1940s, when he developed into one of the most important character actors, the numerous films with distinctive interpretations of older men of grandees up to gravediggers in melodramas like costume dramas his stamp imprinted on. Mid-1950s, he and Manuel Luna, a theater company, in which, although later in smaller parts, remained active until his death.

Among his awards is found twice that of the Sindicato Nacional del Espectáculo and equal to six times that of the Círculo de Escritores Cinematográficos.
