Jetavana

Jetavana (Sanskrit: " Jetahain " ) was initially the name of a park at Savatthi ( Uttar Pradesh ). He is said to have been the favorite place of Buddha, where these 19 rainy seasons spent and should have announced a major part of his teaching. The area belonged to Prince Jetakumara and was allegedly bought by the merchant Anathapindika for 1.8 million gold pieces to build a monastery on it. The monastery of Jetavana was consecrated Buddha and was long regarded as one of the most famous monasteries in India. On the site of approximately 300 x 400 meters are now stupas and monastery ruins, also one of the most sacred trees of Buddhism: Bodhi tree ( Ficus religiosa ) of Ananda.
