Jetboat

A jet boat is a watercraft that is held by a ship's propeller by one or more at the rear by adjustable ejected water jets ( jet, jet stream ) driven and steered. The water needed for propulsion is sucked in at the rear underside of the hull, as the front part of a watercraft at high speed often has no contact with the water surface. With pivoting flaps reverse a reverse thrust can be generated for slowing the boat.

Such boats have proven themselves especially in shallow streams, they are very agile and maneuverable and can easily cross zones lowest water depth thanks to its flat bottom. Jet boats were originally developed by Sir William Hamilton for the special requirements in New Zealand.

In a broader sense, personal watercraft be counted among the jet boats.
