Jets to Brazil

Jets To Brazil was an American band from New York City. The idea for the name came from drummer Chris Daly, who saw the writing on a poster in a scene in the film Breakfast at Tiffany's.

History

Blake Schwarzenbach moved to the dissolution of his former band Jawbreaker to New York. Along with Jeremy Chatelain (previously at Handsome ) and Chris Daly (previously at Texas Is the Reason ) he founded in 1997 Jets to Brazil. Already in the following year was published with Orange Rhyming Dictionary, the first album. This was followed by extensive touring through America and Europe. In 2000, Brian reinforced Maryansky (previously at Van Pelt ) the band as a second guitarist and Schwarzenbach could (also live) devote more keyboard and piano, which had a corresponding musical development result. The follow-up album Four Cornered Night was musically according harmonious, relaxed and earned the band critical acclaim and good sales. In the autumn of 2002 saw the last album with Perfecting Loneliness. For unknown reasons, the band broke up after a U.S. tour in the summer of 2003.

Blake Schwarzenbach was founded in autumn 2008, a new band called Thorns Of Life. In August 2009, Blake Schwarzenbach was on his Facebook account known that he has raised a new band called forgettable age of baptism.

Style

The music of Jets To Brazil can be described as idiosyncratic, guitar -driven indie rock, which is strongly influenced by Blake Schwarzenbach's vocals and guitar melodies. The usually 4-6 minutes long songs are mostly quiet until mid-tempo.
