Jewel Tower

The Jewel Tower ( German Jewels Tower ) in London is next to Westminster Hall is the only remaining part of the original medieval Palace of Westminster. It was built about 1365 to the jewels Edward III. record, unofficially, he was also known as " King's Privy Wardrobe " ( German King's private cabinet ) called. It is a narrow three-story building, was built of stone and today stands on the other side of the street opposite the present parliament building of the Palace of Westminster. Originally it was integrated into the defensive walls of the palace but separated from the main building so that he could the great fire of 1834 which destroyed most of the parliament building, survive.

It is now managed by English Heritage and contains an exhibition of Parliament Past and Present ( German: Parliament in the past and today). Opposite the tower, the remains of a moat can be seen. Until 1834 in the Jewel Tower, the historical records of the House of Lords were kept, these are but today in the management of the Parliamentary Archives in the Victoria Tower of the main building of the Palace of Westminster.

The British crown jewels are kept in the Jewel House of the Tower of London.
