Jewish Supernumerary Police

The Jewish Supernumerary Police ( or Ghafir ) was a subdivision of noTrim, founded in 1936 in the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine. The members of this police force was largely recruited from the Haganah. The task of Ghafir was to ensure the peace and the protection of villages, towns, railways and settlements against Arab attacks.

The Jewish Supernumerary Police was soon used as a front organization of the Hagana. Over time, the number of troops the Ghafirs was increased from 6,000 to 14,000 men.
