Jeyaraj Fernandopulle

Jeyaraj Fernandopulle ( born January 11, 1953 in Kochchikade; † 6 April 2008 Weliveriya ) was a Sri Lankan politician.

Life

Jeyaraj Fernandopulle received his schooling in the Ave Maria Convent and Maris Stella College, Negombo. He was a teacher of mathematics and science at a school in Welihena 1972. 1974 began Fernandopulle a law degree. In 1975 he became secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in his college and in 1977 he left this, with the right to act as a lawyer. After his studies he worked first in the Magistrate's Court and the High Court of Negombo. In 1989 he ran for the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in the Gampaha district and was able to win a seat in Parliament, and also in the subsequent four legislative sessions, he was always able to enter Parliament.

In 1997 he was appointed Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and implementation plan (Plan implementation and parliamentary affairs ). In 2000 he was Minister for Civil Aviation, Tourism and Christian Religious Affairs (Minister of Civil Aviation, Tourism and Christian Religion Affairs ). In 2004 he was appointed Minister of Trade, Economics and Consumer Affairs (Minister of Trade, Commerce, Consumer affairs ). The following year he became minister for commerce, industry, consumer affairs and marketing development (Minister of Trade, Commerce, Consumer affairs & Marketing Development ). Furthermore, he was Minister of Highways (Minister of Highways ). Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, died 6 April 2008 in a suicide attack. He was the father of two children.
