Jezerska Kočna

Kočna seen from the northeast ( Jenkova planina )

The Jezerska Kočna ( German Zealanders Kotschna, often short Kočna for the whole massif) is a 2540 m high mountain in the Steiner Alps in Slovenia.

Location

The Jezerska Kočna lies to the east of the Valley of kokra about a kilometer west of the 2558 m high Grintovec, the highest mountain of the Kamnik Alps. The Jezerska Kočna are offshore southwest, the 2520 m high Kokrska Kočna Na Křížů ( 2,475 m ).

The nearest town is Zgornje Jezersko ( 897 m ) in the north of the mountain. On the north side of the waterfall is Kočna Čedca. With 138 meters, it was up to his extensive destruction in a rock fall in 2008, one of the highest cases of Slovenia.

Alpinism

Points for the ascent of the mountain are the refuges Češka Koca na Spodnjih Ravneh ( 1542 m) in the northeast and Cojzova koca (1793 m) in the southeast. To the south of the summit is on 1952 m the bivouac bivouac v Kočni with eight sleeping places.

The normal route leads from the Cojzova koca towards the peak, at the top of two variants ( on the Kokrska Kočna or from the east via Dolska Skrbina ) are available. The north side Kremzar route of the Češka Koca is a popular climb. All these paths are at least partially insured as a via ferrata.

Despite its high cliffs, the Jezerska Kočna is not a popular mountain for climbing because of their brittle rock. About the northwest ridge leads a route in Difficulty III ( UIAA ) to the summit, pre-peak Oltarji in northwest ridge there are still some difficult shorter routes. About the southwest results in a rather insignificant route in Difficulty II Especially on the north side of the mountain, there are about ten waterfalls that are used in the winter for ice climbing. The Čedca case, which was once considered as the most important icefall of the massif, is now barely passable.

In winter, the Jezerska Kočna can be both eastern and north side also climbed a ski tour. All Skianstiege are considered as demanding.
