JFK Olimps

Olimps Riga ( officially Jauniešu futbola clubs Olimps / Rigas Futbola skolu ) is a Latvian football club from the capital Riga.

The club name means in German, Youth Club Olympus / Riga football school '.

History

The club was founded in 2005, as in the top division of the country, the Virsliga, only seven teams were reported. Thus was formed with young players of the second team Skonto Riga, Liepaja and Ventspils Metalurgs a new club, so that the operation of the game Virsliga could take place with eight teams.

Olimps rose at the end of the season as Penultimate, but managed in 2006 as Master of the League 1 ( second highest division) its chances of promotion.

In 2007 Olimps lost the Latvian Cup final FK Ventspils 0-3. 2009 came the merger of JFK Olimps / ASK with the soccer school Rigas Futbola skolu.

The home ground is the 5,683 -seat Daugava Stadium ( Daugava stadium ), coach since 2008, the Dutchman Anton Joore.
