Jigdo

Jigdo ( portmanteau word of Jigsaw and download) is a download program that downloads all the files required for an ISO image to it to create an ISO image. Originally developed for Debian, it is now also available for Ubuntu, Fedora, Solaris, and FreeBSD. For Debian, it will in the future be the main way of distributing Debian CD images.

By doing so, individually the necessary files to download instead of a large ISO file, the server will be less stressed. At peak times, such as when a new distribution appears, is so reach a higher download rate.

Another interesting feature is the ability to update an old ISO file. To this end, the old file will be mounted and used as a source. Jigdo fetches the files still current from the old ISO file and downloads and created with these new and old files, a new ISO file only new files.
