Jilib

Jilib (also spelled Gilib or Gelib ) is a town in southern Somalia and in the region Jubbada Dhexe (Middle Jubba - ), the largest city it has approximately 45,000 inhabitants. Jilib is at the mouth of the river Shabeelle in the Jubba, the Shabeelle achieved this only when sufficient rainfall to its headwaters.

December 31, 2006 / first January 2007 was the Battle of Jilib between the Union of Islamic Courts and Ethiopia's troops and the Somali transitional government in Jilib and environment.
