Jill Bilcock

Jill Bilcock ( * 1948 in Melbourne, Victoria) is an Australian film editor.

Life

After her studies at Swinburne University of Technology, where she graduated with a degree in art with a specialization in film and television, she worked for the production company of Fred Schepisi, one of their auditors from the university, where she cut commercials and documentaries and produced. Having them in the biopic The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith participated in 1978, she cut in 1984 with Strike Bound, a film drama by Australian director Richard Lowenstein own responsibility one feature film.

Then she cut films such as A Cry in the Dark, Strictly Ballroom - The dance against all the rules and IQ - Love is relative, for which she was nominated and awarded each for different cutting prices. Greater attention was given to her section of the Shakespeare film adaptation of William Shakespeare 's Romeo Juliet, for the said one Hollywood critic that " the film would look like it had been cut by a Russian serial killer on crack ." But despite the bad criticism she received for this film editing several nominations and awards and was able to celebrate a few years later with their work at the Moulin Rouge with an Oscar nomination for Best Editing their biggest success of her career.
