Jim Beaver

James Beaver ( born August 12, 1950 in Laramie, Wyoming as James Norman Beaver Jr. ) is an American actor, screenwriter, and film historian. He is best known for his role as a gold prospector Ellsworth on HBO Western drama Deadwood. Currently, he stars alongside Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki in The CW series Supernatural.

Life and career

Jim Beaver was born on August 12, 1950 in Laramie, Wyoming, the son of Dorothy and James Norman Beaver, Sr. addel. He attended Irving High School until 1967 and went in 1969 to Fort Worth Christan Academy where he earned a college degree. Although he already took part to the primary school at some plays, he showed no interest in an acting career, but expressed the wish later to become a writer or author.

After he had joined the Marines after graduating from high school, he went to the end of his service to the Oklahoma Christian University, where his interest came up in the theater and he also played his first small role in the play The Miracle Worker. His first professional theater role came in 1972 in the play Rain by William Somerset Maugham. There followed then many small roles in movies like Sister Act - A heavenly career, Sliver and The Life of David Gale.

However, his most famous role is that of Goldschürfers Whitney Ellsworth on the HBO series Deadwood, in which he was cast in a starring role. He also plays the role of Bobby Singer in the mystery series Supernatural and the role of sheriff in the series Harper's Iceland. In addition, he also works as a film writer for different series.

Beaver was married from 1989 until her death in 2004, his second wife, the actress Cecily Adams. Of the marriage was in 2001 a daughter out.
