Jim Holdaway

Jim Holdaway (* 1927 in London, † February 18, 1970 in England ) was an English comic book artist who was best known as the illustrator of the comic strip Modesty Blaise.

The one who was born in Barnes Common, London Holdaway had to interrupt his training in 1945, he was drafted as a soldier. He was released three years later from the army and was able to finish his art studies in 1951. Before 1952 he published his first comics, he worked as an illustrator. After he had contributed to various cartoon series, he took over in 1957 by Alfred Mazure in the Daily Mirror published daily strip Romeo Brown, who he continued to its end in 1963. Holdaway was known primarily for the strip Modesty Blaise, where he delivered the drawings to the texts by Peter O'Donnell. At Modesty Blaise, he worked from the beginning in 1963 until his death from heart failure in February 1970.
