Jim Holland

James Henry Holland, short Jim Holland ( born July 4, 1967 in Hanover, New Hampshire ) is a former American ski jumper.

Career

His debut in the Ski Jumping World Cup gave Holland on December 3, 1989 in Thunder Bay. In the first three years he remained in the World Cup but without points and gain top rankings. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1991 in Val di Fiemme reached Holland of the normal hill and 29th on the large hill to 52nd place. On December 14, 1991 he succeeded in Sapporo with 13th place for the first time the jump in the points. A day later, he could even increase to 12th place. In the Four Hills Tournament 1991/92 Holland could jump in three of four competitions in the points and reached the 5th place in Garmisch -Partenkirchen even the best result of his career. He ended the tour in 10th place in the Tour overall standings. Due to this success, he was part of the squad for the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville. There he reached on the normal hill on the 13th and on the large hill the 12th Place. Despite the slowing performance in the World Cup and the temporary change in the ski jumping Continental Cup in 1994, he belonged again to the squad for the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer. There, however, he reached the normal hill only the 48th and on the large hill to the 46th place. After another unsuccessful year in the Continental ended Holland 1995 his active ski jumping career.

Jim Holland is the brother of the equally successful ski jumper Mike Holland and the Nordic combiner Joe Holland.
